Simulator on Amazon Ring

Hi, I’d like to kindly ask for some clarification regarding the simulator to be used for the Ring track.

1) The hackathon mentions that simulators can be used, and I wanted to confirm whether this refers to the three sample streams available in the Amazon Ring Playground: the car-moving stream, the package-delivery stream, and the motion simulator showing birds.
2) If we don’t have access to an actual Ring device, would there be a way for us to use our own videos and stream them through the simulator?
3) Also, would it be possible to use a combination of the sample streams and our own videos?

Thank you for the clarification!

    1) Yes. The simulator is the Ring Developer Playground. Its Package, Vehicle and Motion streams are simulated live-view sessions you consume through the API. The rules say "a physical Ring device is not required," and the demo video can show your project "working through a simulator or an actual Ring device." So you won't be penalized for building only on the Playground.

    2) Not through the Playground itself. Those three streams are the only simulated sources. What you can do is run your own footage through your app's own processing to show that part of the experience.

    3) Yes, combining them is fine. Use the Playground streams to show the integration working end to end, and your own videos to show scenarios the samples don't cover. Just make it clear in your video and README which footage comes from Ring and which is yours, so judges can see the Ring API is actually being used.
